Dear Friends,

Thank you to all who supported the St. Stephen’s Education Foundation Jazz Night held on June 16, 2023. It was a lovely evening that included live music, displays of our St. Stephen’s Parish history by the Grand Island Historical Society, great opportunities to catch up with friends and family, along with plenty of delicious food and adult beverages. All proceeds from the evening will be added to the endowment fund.

This year the Foundation was also blessed with separate, directed donations that provided funding for three scholarships awarded at the Jazz Night. The donors directed that the winners of all three scholarships be selected based on the results of answers to a written test reflecting knowledge of their Catholic faith.

This year, we presented two On Eagles Wings Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each, payable to St. Stephen’s School toward the tuition of the winners.

The first On Eagles Wings Scholarship was awarded in memory of Helen and Bob Utz, went to Matthew Cwilkinski. Matthew is enrolled in 7th grade at St. Stephen’s School for the 2023-2024.

The second On Eagles Wings Scholarship was awarded in honor of Michele Fusco, a religion teacher at St. Stephen’s School, went to Gabrielle Wild. Gabrielle is enrolled in 8th grade at St. Stephen’s School for the 2023-2024.

The third scholarship, The Don and Jeanne Argy Scholarship in the amount of $6,000 was awarded to Jack Rogers, a graduating High School Senior, who will be attending Holy Cross of Indiana.

We congratulate our winners and applaud all who participated and took the test.

We are a young Foundation. If you have ideas of how we can help each other grow in our Catholic faith, we want to hear from you. Please contact us at admin@ststephenseducationfoundation.org,  Let’s work together to strengthen our faith so we can all grow closer to God.
